May is the month of Mary

The month of May holds a special significance in the hearts of many Catholics as it is dedicated to our Blessed Mother, Mary. She is revered as the mother of God and the church, a figure of unwavering love and compassion. One of the beautiful traditions observed during this month is the crowning of Mary in parishes worldwide. This ceremony involves adorning a statue of Mary with a delicate wreath of flowers as a symbol of her grace and purity.

I have always considered myself Marian. My devotion to Mama Mary runs deep, as I admire her exceptional qualities and seek to embody them in my daily endeavors. Emulating her virtues is a challenging yet rewarding journey that constantly inspires me to grow and evolve as a person.

St. Pope John Paul II once said:

The Virgin Mary & Women:

"Totus tuus" or "Totally yours"

"I simply wish to note that the figure of Mary of Nazareth sheds light on womanhood as such by the very fact that God in the sublime event of the Incarnation of his Son, entrusted himself to the ministry, the free and active ministry of a woman.

—John Paul II.Redemptoris Mater

If we entrust ourselves to her care, she will lead us to her son.

"The greatest saints, those richest in grace and virtue will be the most assiduous in praying to the most blessed virgin, looking up to her as the perfect model to imitate and as a powerful helper to assist them."

- Saint Louis Marie de Montfort

Mary is the model of Humility.

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked upon his handmaid's lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. “ - Luke 1:46-48

Mary is the model of Generosity and Compassion.

“When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and exclaimed with a loud cry, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And why has this happened to me, that the mother of my Lord comes to me?”- Luke 1:39-56

Mary is the model of faithfulness.

"And Mary said, 'Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.' And the angel departed from her." - Luke 1:38

Mary is unwavering.

“Mary is the epitome of hope, from trusting God to work through her Yes to become the Mother of God to her unwavering confidence that the cross was not the end for her Son.”
